1. Overview and Core Architectural Truth
This Privacy Policy applies to the mobile and desktop native application PDF Compare (officially listed on the Apple App Store as PDF Compare: Document Diff App, Bundle ID: com.pdfcompare.app).
Our founding philosophy is simple: confidential documents should never leave your physical device. PDF Compare is engineered as a standalone, offline-first application. When you compare contracts, inspect redline diffs, flatten pages, or apply cryptographic signatures, all computational processing takes place strictly inside the local sandbox memory of your Apple device (iPhone, iPad, or Mac).
2. Zero Document Retention and Zero Network Ingestion
Unlike legacy cloud-based PDF conversion and comparison services:
- Zero Cloud Uploads: Your PDF files, scanned document images, text streams, and annotations are never uploaded to any remote web server, cloud storage bucket, or API endpoint.
- Zero Content Inspection: We have no technical capability to view, read, index, parse, or store the contents, metadata, or financial figures contained within your files.
- Zero Machine Learning Ingestion: Your documents are never used to train, fine-tune, or validate artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
- RAM-Only Processing: Rendered document bitmaps and diff matrices exist only in volatile device RAM during an active user session.
3. Device Permissions and Native Frameworks
PDF Compare requests only the minimal system permissions required to provide essential on-device features. Each permission is requested at runtime with clear user consent:
Purpose: Used solely when you initiate a physical paper document scan via Apple's native VisionKit framework (VNDocumentCameraViewController). Scanned camera frames are processed directly into PDF pages on your device and are never sent over the internet.
Purpose: Used solely when you explicitly tap to import a seal, stamp asset, or handwritten signature graphic using Apple's system photo picker (PHPickerViewController). The app only receives access to the specific images you select.
Purpose: Used solely to unlock your local encrypted document vault. Biometric evaluation is performed entirely by Apple's Secure Enclave hardware. PDF Compare never accesses, stores, or transmits your biometric mathematical representations.
* Note: The app does not request Location Services, Push Notifications, Microphone, Contacts, Bluetooth, or Background App Refresh.
4. Zero Third-Party Trackers and Native Apple In-App Purchases
Zero Commercial Trackers: PDF Compare does not bundle any third-party ad networks, telemetry SDKs, or behavioral attribution trackers. We do not integrate Google AdMob, Firebase, Meta SDK, Adjust, AppsFlyer, or Flurry.
In-App Purchases (StoreKit 2): If you choose to unlock premium features or subscriptions, all transactions are processed exclusively through Apple's native StoreKit 2 framework. Your payment credentials, credit card details, and billing addresses are handled strictly between you and Apple Inc. PDF Compare developers never receive or store your financial information.
Crash Reporting: Diagnostics and crash logs are provided anonymously through Apple's built-in App Store Connect diagnostic reporting, which you can opt in or out of within your iOS device settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements).
5. No Account Registration and Instant Data Deletion
PDF Compare requires no user registration, no account creation, and no login credentials. You do not need to provide an email address, phone number, or corporate identity to use the application.
Because all data is stored strictly within the local iOS sandbox container:
- You can clear temporary documents and caches at any time via Settings > Clear Local Storage inside the app.
- Deleting or uninstalling the PDF Compare application from your Apple device immediately and permanently purges all local sandbox documents, settings, and cached comparison files.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
PDF Compare is a general-audience document comparison utility. Because we do not collect any personal information whatsoever, our service complies with the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the European Union GDPR-K, and applicable global child data protection regulations.
