How to use this tool
Choose a document
Select a PDF up to 80 MB or try the fictional fillable form. Review the detected form field count and page preview.
Choose the flattening mode
Form Fields makes supported AcroForm fields static without rasterizing the whole page. Raster Pages renders displayed pages to JPEG images at 300 DPI.
Download a new copy
Choose Flatten and Download PDF. Reopen the output and check field values, page count and important marks. Keep the editable original.
Form fields and page images are different
Form Fields uses supported AcroForm field appearances as page content and removes those interactive fields. It does not flatten every annotation or optional content layer, guarantee XFA support or prevent later editing with PDF software. Missing or unsupported appearances can cause an error; a successful save is not a substitute for reviewing values.
Raster output trades text for page images
Raster Pages renders pages at 300 DPI and embeds JPEG images in a new PDF with the same displayed page sizes. Text is no longer selectable or searchable, links and forms are not interactive, and image compression can change detail. Only marks included by the renderer appear; do not assume every annotation or layer is preserved. The preview shows the source document, so inspect the downloaded result separately.
Signatures and processing limits
Neither mode makes a document tamper proof, performs redaction, validates a digital signature or guarantees acceptance by a court or filing service. Rewriting a signed PDF can invalidate signatures. Raster mode limits each page to 20 million pixels and 16384 pixels per edge, with 40 million rendered pixels per job. These guards do not bound all browser memory. Use smaller page sets if needed.
Document processing and website privacy
Document contents are processed in your browser without uploads to a remote document processing server. The website can still make network requests for application code, fonts, samples and analytics. Product events exclude document contents and file names. Local processing does not certify a document or guarantee regulatory compliance.
Common questions
Does form flattening lock the entire PDF?
No. Supported fields become static page content, but PDF editing software can still modify the document. Flattening is not encryption or access control.
Should I flatten an already signed PDF?
Keep the signed original. Saving a rewritten PDF can invalidate or omit cryptographic signatures, and a visible signature image is not proof of a valid digital signature.
Why are no form fields detected?
The file may already contain static text, scans, unsupported forms or no AcroForm fields. Form mode does not turn those objects into editable fields and does not flatten every kind of annotation.
